Bells over the Water Meadows

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:38 am by Aleksan

Listening to the melodious bells ringing to the South from St Peter’s Church, Stockbridge – across the water meadows.  No other sounds apart from the little birds, and the mewing of a Kestrel.  I sit for a while taking in the quiet midwinter beauty, the dull light, the chill breeze and a white Sammy wandering not far away in the dull green grass.  When the wind is from the North, not so often, I delight in the bells of St Mary’s, Longstock.  These gentle rhythms, so characteristic of the English countryside, still the mind – and give the same pleasure I find in listening to the music of horses going by, or when I am riding my magic grey mare, Sonadora
