Choral Evensong at St Mary’s Church, Longstock – an appreciation
Well, the Service was truly glorious yesterday! Thanks to Dick James for making a lovely idea come true, for putting a choir together and producing such beautiful music. Thanks also to the Vicar, Jonathan Watkins for delivering such a memorable and sincere Service of celebration and remembrance in an old tradition from the 1662 prayer book. A special “thank you” for Dawn Williams, Organist, playing with talent on a powerful organ hired for the occasion with very little practice, and to the Choir from all over the country who gave their talents freely and sang beautifully. It was great to see so many friends and neighbours at the Service and for the members of the James and Burnfield family to meet again. Alleluia!
