Margaret Thatcher – neither Saint nor Demon
Thatcher was neither a Demon nor a Saint – she was focussed and did her job as Tory Leader well. Like all leaders she made a lot of enemies, and like all “great” people she has a lot of luck! She did turn Britain round and some paid an enormous price, others became able to have more power over their lives. Do we need more leaders like this in our times? I am not sure it would be possible – the future will have to be more people co-operating with each other, and like it or not more coalition. The net and modern media make leadership by strong personalities impossible. So it really is an end of an Era and we mourn the passing of woman the likes of which we will never see again.
