A poem by Jeff Walker, of The Corn Loft – I think brilliant

I own it

I wore some gloves
And became a boxer
Looked knowledgeable, intelligible, became a teacher, a critic
I found a voice
And began to sing
I kicked a football
And became a footballer
I wore some trainers
became fit, drove cars, won races
I bought books, bookcases but never read
But became intelligent to others
At times of desperation, chaos and suffering
I have become a hero
At times of need, a thief and even sympathetic
But never kind
You have to work at that.
